Katrina - terrorism through neglect

Above: Slab that was her house, Aug 2006

The Katrina disaster was created by criminal negligence from the government. Many have known this, but now it's been legitimized in the courts.

From HuffPo: "In his 156-page ruling, Duval said he was "utterly convinced" that the corps' failure to shore up the channel "doomed the channel to grow to two to three times its design width" and that "created a more forceful frontal wave attack on the levee" that protected St. Bernard and the Lower 9th Ward."

Systemic racism and classism is nothing new, but it only occasionally surfaces in public (read: white) consciousness. What will it take to transform this public consciousness? Well, if you think yourself ignorant about these issues, a little self-education never hurt.
